Australian Bureau of Statistics
The Australian Bureau of Statistics is the Australia Government’s official statistical organisation. It assists and encourage informed decision-making, research and discussion within governments and the community, by providing a high quality, objective and responsive national statistical service.
Australian Institute of Health and Welfare
The AIHW is Australia’s national agency for health and welfare statistics and information. The AIHW is set up by an Act of Parliament to report to the nation on the state of its health and welfare.
Department of Health and Ageing
The Department of Health and Ageing’s role is to achieve the Australian Government’s priorities (outcomes) for health and ageing. The Department develops evidence-based policies, manages programs and undertakes research and regulation activities. It also leads and works closely with other agencies to achieve results for the Australian Government and community, and engages in open and constructive consultation with professionals, providers, industry and community groups.
Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research
The Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research provides advice to businesses on industry development issues and administers several Government investment incentives such as the R&D Tax Credit system. The Department also oversees IP Australia, Australia’s intellectual property regulator.
Department of Veterans Affairs of Australia
The Repatriation Commission (the commission to which DVA is responsible) is responsible under the Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986 for granting pensions, allowances and other benefits, and providing treatment and other services through its hospital and institutions or through community facilities to veterans, their dependants and other eligible persons.
Therapeutic Goods Administration
The Australian community expects that medicines and medical devices in the marketplace are safe and of high quality, to a standard at least equal to that of comparable countries. The objective of the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989 is to provide a national framework for the regulation of therapeutic goods in Australia and ensure their quality, safety and efficacy.
