Consumers’ Health Forum of Australia

The Consumers Health Forum of Australia Inc (CHF) is the national voice for health consumers. As an independent member-based non-government organisation, CHF helps shape Australia’s health system by representing and involving consumers in health policy and program development.

COTA

COTA is Australia’s leading seniors’ organisation, with individual members and seniors organisation members in all States and Territories. It has been serving the interests of Australian seniors since 1951.

ALZHEIMER’S

Alzheimer’s Association of Australia

Alzheimer’s Australia is the national peak body for people living with dementia, their families and carers and provides leadership in policy and services.

ARTHRITIS

Arthritis Australia

Arthritis Australia is Not-for-profit, and is the peak arthritis organisation in Australia. It is supported by affiliate offices in every state and territory. Arthritis Australia endeavours to ensure the accuracy and relevance of information on its website. Consumer information materials are reviewed and updated on an annual basis, with the process including a full literature review to ensure scientific accuracy. News pages are reviewed on a daily basis, other amendments uploaded as they occur and, overall, a six monthly review of the full website is undertaken to maintain accuracy and relevancy.

CANCER

The Cancer Council of Australia

As Australia’s peak national non-government cancer control organisation, Cancer Council Australia advises the Australian Government and other bodies on practices and policies to help prevent, detect and treat cancer. They also advocate for the rights of cancer patients for best treatment and supportive care.

Carers Australia

Carers Australia is the national peak body representing the diversity of carers in Australia.

DIABETES

Diabetes Australia

Diabetes Australia is the national peak body for diabetes in Australia providing a single, powerful, collective voice for people living with diabetes, their families and carers. Diabetes Australia works in partnership with diabetes health professionals, educators and researchers to minimise the impact of diabetes on the Australian community. Diabetes Australia is committed to turning diabetes around through awareness, prevention, detection, management and a cure.

DISABILITY

NDS

NDS is the national industry association for disability services, representing over 650 not-for-profit organisations. Collectively, our members operate several thousand services for Australians with all types of disability. NDS’s members range in size from small support groups to large multi-service organisations, and are located in every State and Territory across Australia.

EPILEPSY

Epilepsy Association

Epilepsy Action provides education and support services to children and adults with epilepsy or other seizure disorders across Australia.

HEART DISEASE

Heart Foundation of Australia

The Heart Foundation is dedicated to reducing the dreadful effects of the number of people living with, or dying from heart, stroke and blood vessel disease. Established in Australia in 1959, it has funded world-class cardiovascular research, supported health professionals in their practice, developed health promotion activities, informed and educated the public, and assisted people with cardiovascular disease. Today, the life expectancy of Australians is about ten years longer for men and nine years longer for women.

HIV/AIDS

Australian Federation of AIDS organisations

AFAO AFAO is the peak non-government organisation representing Australia’s community-based response to HIV/AIDS. AFAO’s work includes education, policy, advocacy and international projects.

National Association of People Living with HIV/AIDS

The National Association of People Living with HIV/AIDS (NAPWA) is the national peak organisation representing people living with HIV/AIDS in Australia. Through leadership in advocacy, policy, education and prevention, NAPWA strives to minimise the adverse personal and social effects of HIV/AIDS. By championing the participation of HIV-positive people at all levels of the national HIV/AIDS response we aim to build a positive future for people living with HIV/AIDS.

KIDNEY DISEASE

The Australian Kidney Foundation

Kidney Health Australia was first incorporated 9 August 1968 as a non-profit organisation which has served the kidney community of Australia for over 40 years.

PALLIATIVE CARE

Palliative Care Australia

Palliative Care Australia is the peak national organisation representing the interests and aspirations of all who share the ideal of quality care at the end of life for all. Palliative Care Australia is an incorporated body whose members are the eight state and territory palliative care associations and the Australian and New Zealand Society of Palliative Medicine. The membership of these associations includes palliative care service providers, clinicians, allied health professionals, academics, consumers and members of the general community.

STROKE

The Stroke Foundation of Australia

The National Stroke Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that works with the public, government, health professionals, patients, carers and stroke survivors to reduce the impact of stroke on the Australian community.
