Thursday, 31 August 2017

Media Release

Medicines Australia has been made aware that a Sydney beauty clinic under investigation following a serious medical incident involving a customer has been falsely promoting that its “facilities, materials, resources and products” meet the “stringent requirements” of Medicines Australia.

First and foremost, Medicines Australia hopes that the customer makes a full and quick recovery.

Medicines Australia in no way regulates or has any association with the operators of the Medi Beauty Clinic or any medical clinic operating in Australia.

Medicines Australia is an industry association that represents innovative, researched-based pharmaceutical companies in Australia – we do not regulate or endorse the practices of cosmetic clinics or impose requirements in respect of the products and procedures that they use.

We encourage all Australians to seek the advice of a qualified medical professional when considering taking a medicine or undergoing a medical procedure.

Medicines Australia is considering what action it should take in relation to the misuse of its company name.
